Curtis Andrew Rigsby is an Associate Professor of Comparative Thought and Philosophy at Hiroshima University in Japan, where he teaches in the School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, World Studies Group. He is fluent in English, Japanese, Chinese, German, and Greek. His current positions include being a faculty member at the University of Guam, a faculty member at Hiroshima University, and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research and study areas include religions, comparative religions, Japanese studies, philosophy, comparative philosophy, theology, and Chinese studies. His recent research is a study of the “Analytical Theology” project at the University of Notre Dame. In his research, he has critiqued various narratives from Asian traditions. He has also researched the common grounds for comparing Asian and Western traditions and has challenged Western distortions in Asian traditions. Despite the historical and interpretive aspects of his research, his research is primarily philosophical and involves critical examination of intercultural and global themes in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, semiotics of religions, and world religious traditions.
